Supplies

  • Any candy or cereal with a hole (i.e. Lifesavers, Fruit Loops, Cheerios, etc.)
  • One 30 inch piece of string or colorful rope
  • Scissors
  • Paper plate
  • Construction tape

Prep/ Set Up Details

  • Cut enough pieces of 30 inch string for every CAMPer
  • Prepare paper plates with 1 piece of string and and handful of candy and cereal

Instructions

  1. When CAMPers are situated at their seats, welcome everyone!
  2. Introduce yourself and any other Counselors assisting the activity
  3. Give a brief overview of what to expect and show CAMPers a completed “demo” or what the final product of this craft can look like
  4. Start by taping one end of the string to the table
  5. Begin threading candy and cereal onto the string
  6. Create a pattern (i.e. by size, color, shape, etc) to your liking using your favorite candy and cereal
  7. Once you have the first half of the necklace completed, tape that side of the string to the table with tape and remove the tape from the other side of the string
  8. Begin creating the same pattern on the second half of the string or create a whole new pattern
  9. Secure your necklace with a tight knot and then it's ready to be worn!
